Byte Technologies LLC (“Bytefence”) wants to make sure you understand what information we collect from you and why. We also want you to know about our information use practices so that you can make good decisions about how you use the service we provide (the “Services”). This Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) explains what information we collect from and about you and what we do with it. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. Remember that your use of our Services is subject to the End User License Agreement located at Terms, which incorporates this Privacy Policy.

  1. Collection

    Information We Collect Directly From You - In order to enable, improve, maintain and measure the performance of our Services, we may collect and use technical information from your device. The information collected includes, but is not limited to, your IP address, your computer operating system’s details, type of browser, default homepage, start page, and new tab. In addition, we collect your search query in order to provide you with search results, but we will not use it for any other purpose.

    Information We Automatically Collect - When you choose to contact us, we document the communication between us, including your email address to render you with support services and assist you with any issues you may have. Please note that we will not use this documentation for advertising.

    Cookie Policy - Cookies are small text files which store certain preferences and additional information used on the website you visit and saved on your computer. We may use cookies and/or similar technologies to collect information which will enable the improvement and customization of our Software, which may include your data usage. You may choose to delete/enable cookies by changing your browser’s settings, keeping in mind that by doing so, you may not be able to enjoy the full functionality of certain features.

    Information collected from your device will be used for the purposes specified below:

    • Service Operation - operating the service, and ensuring your device’s compatibility;
    • Internal - supporting our operations, including debugging and security;
    • Fraud prevention - detecting and preventing fraud;
    • Search - providing you with relevant search results based on your search query, or share with search providers (as further described below);
    • Reporting - generating reports;
    • Additional Software Offers - offering you additional software;
    • Updates in connection with the service.
  3. European Users special terms

    For users located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the following applies:

    We act as a controller and process personal data as necessary for the performance of our contract with you (End User License Agreement). We may process your information for compliance with legal requirements, as applicable.

    We will transfer your information to the United States based on the Standard Contractual Clauses. If you wish to receive a copy of these Standard Contractual Clauses, please contact us.

    Information collected from you is stored while you are using the service. Following your termination of the service, you are welcome to send us an erasure request in accordance with the below.

    Data subject rights - You have the right to request access to your personal data, as well as rectification or erasure of your personal data which we process as controllers, or to restrict or object to processing of your personal data in accordance with the provisions of the GDPR. In order to submit a request for accessing and/or deleting your information, please send us an email to: data_requests@bytefence.com. Subject to verification of your identity, we will process your request. In case we haven’t addressed your concerns, you have the right to file a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority.

  4. Children

    The Services are not intended and/or directed to persons under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. We will take steps to remove any information from our servers, provided to us by a child, if we will be made aware of such fact. If you know of a child that provided us with personal information, you should contact us at support@bytefence.com.

  5. Sharing and Disclosure

    Except as stated in this Privacy Policy, we will not share, sell or rent your Personal Information, unless we have a good faith belief that such disclosure is permitted by law or is reasonable necessary:

    1. In order to comply with a legal requirement or processes and to exercise our legal rights, including those under this Privacy Policy or EULA;
    2. If we suspect any illegal activities or violation of third-party rights;
    3. In order to protect our rights, in the event we undergo a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information may be one of the assets sold or transferred;
    4. We may also disclose your information to our corporate affiliates in order to help provide, understand, and improve the Services and our affiliates’ services, this means we may also combine information we have on you internally.
  6. Third Party Providers

    To store your information, we currently use Google Cloud Platform servers and Amazon Web Services, Inc., and our Software may include the search feed of Google and/or Microsoft and/or Yahoo. These companies privacy policies are available to you at:

  7. Changes to this Privacy Policy

    From time to time, we may make changes to this Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the Services, following any change to this Privacy Policy, constitutes your complete and irrevocable consent to the updated Privacy Policy. If we make significant changes to this Privacy Policy or the way we treat your personal information (in our sole discretion), we will provide you with an appropriate notice. If you consider any changes to this Privacy Policy as unacceptable, you may uninstall our Service.
